Oak Mountain State Park

Looking for a way to immerse yourself in the natural aspect of fall? Visit Alabama’s largest state park! This park has one of the widest varieties of outdoor activities of any state park! However, the views alone make this park stand out as an unforgettable adventure. Bring your bikes as there are more than 50 miles of trails to ride on. There’s also a golf course, boat rental facilities, lakes for fishing, horseback riding, and a BMX course! If you’re finished exploring the park early, you can ride over to downtown Birmingham and spend some time walking around the town or grabbing a bite to eat.

Donald E. Davis Arboretum

Auburn University has supported the conservation of this 13.5 acre botanic garden for decades! The Donald E. Davis Arboretum has water features, miles of walking trails, and different trees and foliage to take in while exploring this beautiful piece of nature. During October, there are even a number of events hosted at the facility, including Bones & Boos (an outdoor skeleton exhibit) and Fright Night Fridays. This conversationalist park is worth a visit. 

Majestic Caverns

The majestic caverns are a truly magical experience, probably unlike anything you’ve ever seen! Apart from the caverns themselves where you could likely spend hours exploring, there is also live entertainment, craft artisan demonstrations, and more events throughout the fall months! Talladega National Forest

Ride along the winding roads to be immersed in the trees and fall leaves, or get the ultimate view on Cheaha Mountain, Alabama’s highest point! This nearly 400,000 acre state park boasts tons of trails, campgrounds, mountain views, waterfalls, ponds, picnic areas, and playgrounds! You can definitely spend a day or more exploring this forest.

If you’re a football fan, you might want to spend a day tailgating or attending the game of one of Alabama’s biggest college teams: the Alabama Crimson Tide or the Auburn Tigers! Going to a game in downtown Tuscaloosa or Auburn, AL is sure to consist of a day full of fun events and activities.
